A wander round Stanley Park

Blog posts are like buses… apparently.

Today was Ilona’s first day at work and as I had a day off I decided it was time to finally make it the whole way round the sea wall of Stanley Park. After the usual leisurely morning spent having breakfast and video calling the family, I packed Ilona off to work and set off on a solo adventure to Stanley Park. As the walk around the wall is around 10km, I decided to catch the bus to the start point.

Actually, while I am on the subject of buses I should probably mention that my opinions of buses and their drivers has changed dramatically since we got to Vancouver. Bus drivers here are the polar opposite of their UK counterparts – phrases such as, “would anyone like to hop off at the redlight”; “have a lovely evening” and “thank you” are all things you will hear on your daily commute. As a prime example, today Ilona was not charged for her journey as the bus was “running late”. If UK buses didn’t charge every time they were running late they’d be out of business! *Rant over*

There is only so much you can say about walking around a park, so I’ll keep this fairly brief. On a nice day Vancouver becomes a hive of activity, and there is no better place to enjoy the weather than in Stanley Park. It has breathtaking views, massive playing fields, a beach, cafes and many other visitor attractions. I stuck to the sea wall this time so have only scratched the surface of whats on offer, but I’m sure that Ilona and I will spend a lot more time here in the future. Ilona has no choice actually… she works there. Anyway here are some pictures, which hopefully convey what a great park it is!
